Day #16 - Manzanita Lake to McCloud
Easy ‘recovery’ day revolving around stuffing my face with all kinds of food. I think I had 3 proper meal stops and 2 snack breaks. Actually I could still eat something right now. 😅 First 70km were downhill rolling hills, followed by 25km of uphill rolling hills and then more down. Nothing particularly challenging.
When it comes to the scenery my focus was on Mt Shasta which was visible right after leaving Lassen Volcanic National Park. It’s humongous - 4321m! Towering well above anything else in it’s neighborhood and fully covered in snow. Incredible view. I wonder if it’s rideable… 🤔
Finally managed to catch up with the cyclo touring Finnish couple I heard about on a campsite in Graeagle 3 or 4 days ago. Seemed really nice but had a different tempo and decided to stay at the campsite right when the downhill ended. I still had plenty of time and energy in my legs at that point thus decided to continue. Maybe they will catch up.
Just a guy touring on his bike across the world and getting progressively broke. Should you wish to help me out and fuel few kilometers of my ride please paypal.me/MPaluchowski. Any sort of help is greatly appreciated.
