Day #62 - Firehole CG to Spring Creek CG

Wow what a day. Probably the hardest gravel/dirt riding I have ever done. 62km of dirt roads with constant ups and downs. No flats whatsoever. First half was a very well packed gravel so nothing super bad although with some steep kickers here and there. But as the road continued it’s quality decreased and gravel gave ways to some loose sands. While on the uphills I managed to find some hard ground with traction, on the downhills I had to stay focused as they were quite technical and steep. On the second to last downhill, at its very bottom, I smashed right into a sand pit doing close to 50km/h. 😱 Seriously I believe if it weren’t for the dirt bike skills I would not have stayed upright. Somehow I blew my back tire on this sand trap! No idea how tho… If that wasn’t enough, while I was changing the blown tube I wanted to hide in the shade by a nearby tree and I almost stepped on a snake which was chillin there. 😐

All this hardship payed off - I got invited to share a camp spot with a lovely retired couple who cooked me a dinner. ☺️ And I got a free shower at the campsite 😏 Wow second day in a row!
