Day #7: Huanta - Ayacucho
By far the best day I had so far. I really needed it. Finally some good f*ing legs! Got slightly drizzled on during the first climb out of Huanta but managed to escape the rain by TTing on rolling hills.
I am not sure if thatβs actually the case but chewing on coca leaves made me less hungry or my perception of hunger changed. As a result I was under-eating and was unable to restore glycogen in my muscles, thus having spaghetti legs. I am basing it all on the fact that yesterday I skipped chewing/drinking mate de coca and arrived in Huanta starving which was not the case in the previous days. Even now as I am writing this I am craving food which is actually good! Idk it seems coca leaves are good if you are simply walking around the mountains but shredding it on a bike is a different story. π€·π»ββοΈ
Oh btw Ayacucho seems super nice actually. Will stay two days here in a legit hotel which is still cheaper than camping in the USA. π
Just a guy touring on his bike across the world and getting progressively broke. Should you wish to help me out and fuel few kilometers of my ride please paypal.me/MPaluchowski. Any sort of help is greatly appreciated.
